The Number of the Beast je prvním albem Iron Maiden, na kterém zpívá Bruce Dickinson, a zároveň prvním albem skupiny, které se dostalo na první místo v žebříčku prodejnosti ve Velké Británii. Album přineslo crossoverové hity Run To The Hills a The Number of The Beast a představilo kapelu skutečně globálnímu publiku.
